With the football season now well underway across Europe, we will look at the early prediction around the leagues.

EFL Championship

Leeds United, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion are predicted to challenge for the league and the passage for automatic promotion this season. Just behind the leading pack, Sunderland, Norwich City, Coventry City, Middlesbrough and Watford are expected to compete for a play-off spot. At the bottom end of the table, Cardiff City are the early candidates for the drop. Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle and Queens Park Rangers will need to fight hard to remain in the league.

La Liga

On the current form, Barcelona look like run-away winners. Last year’s relatively under-performance seems like a distant memory. A league title will be a perfect end to their scheduled return to Camp Nou. Real Madrid do not seem to have all cylinders firing just yet. The much hyped addition of Mbappé has not provided the sparks everyone is expecting, although last season’s star Bellingham has been out injured. Girona may not be the big surprise like they were last season, which is a good thing as they look set to continue staying on the top end of the table this season. Villarreal look set to build on last season’s foundation and challenge for a spot in the Champions League. Atlético Madrid seem to be slipping further behind this season, although they should still earn an European spot comfortably. Real Betis should continue to be a solid side. Celta Vigo, however, could turn out to be the surprise this season, finally putting behind the label of under-achievers and challenge for a spot in the Europe.

At the bottom of the table, new comers Espanyol, Leganés and Valladolid so far look to be dropping straight back down, as there is a sizeable gap to the other bottom teams.
